A Powerful New Tool For Journaling
Jul 23, 2007 05:03pm
I have kept a journal for the past twenty years. Writing my thoughts
for twenty minutes a day has been a tremendous help in bringing clarity
to my thinking and discovering patterns in my life. Despite my
commitment to the process, I often get ?stuck.?
Sometimes a feeling
wells up that is overpowering or painful and my first reaction is to
shut down or go into a denial mode. Now when this happens, I pull out a
card from the Ouch Kit and fill out the back. The process of checking
the boxes that match my feelings and then completing the fill in
sentence gives me the distance and safety I need to allow myself to
feel and then write in my journal about issues I have tried hard to
avoid.
Many of my most destructive and hurtful ?dialogues? take place in my own head and heart. The Ouch Kit is not only ?Couples Therapy in a Box? but a powerful tool for self-awareness. It has helped me better understand and accept myself, which in turn enables me to improve my communication and relationship with my husband and children. I highly recommend the Ouch Kit for both loved ones who wish to enrich their relationship and for individuals who are seeking self-actualization through journal keeping. Deborah J.
